Day Out: The Shard

Hot footing it over from the mornings fun at the barbican and by 5pm here we are at The Shard. I had intentionally booked our tickets for 5pm as sunset falls around this time and we could see the view of London by day, sunset and, night. It was also perfect timing as we spent the afternoon at the Barbican to visit the rain room (previous post). Unfortunately there was no sunset to see, as in typical London form, it was cloudy with showers.

Event: The Shard
Description: Sight seeing London from the tallest viewing platform in Europe.
Price: adults £24.95 child £18.95
WWW: www.theviewfromtheshard.com
Frequency: Open every day 09:00 - 22:00
Location: London, nearest station London Bridge.
Hot Tip: Maybe go in the summer when you can have clearer sky's.

I have posted about The Shard last year with a tad of background and facts. But no pics to show what it's like... so here it is.

It's not like going up a monument, like the Eiffel Tower, more like going up the Tokyo Sky Tree. But unlike Tokyo where everything is new, the beauty that is London is seeing the old mix in with the new. Being able to see above the London Tower Castle and its grounds adjacent to the Gherkin and the towering blocks of the city bank area, and the little caterpillar blocks that are the trains passing bellow you from London Bridge.
