Mixing Decades

I have been a tad bored at home waiting for pay day and thought I would play with my face and look. I did this the other day and loved it, and been doing my hair and make up like this for the last few days.

Inspired from the 50s. It means my skin can get a rest from the foundation as the attention is on my eyes and lips. Its simple and fast to do, with lots of glamour. To tone it down for a day look, I took some inspiration from the 50s war propaganda pics.

A bandana...

Curled my hair in a relaxed wave and a rock in roll quiff. Ready to go.

Any outfit feels great with this look. I have rocked it with my long red skirt, but today was nice and hot. So with my army studded boy friend shirt, contrast vest, shorts and high tops.

This look and a red bandana is already striking that you have to be bold and confident. It brings out the the classic rock feel, accessorising with more bangles, my home made cord bradded bracelet and rose ring to go with my vest.

The Shirt and the high tops are featured in my prevues posts in my shopping hauls.

If you like my personal style and would like to just follow that (since I didn't really think to blog what I wear) you can also follow me on ASOS Fashion Finder. Click the link on the bug on the left <=

AW/FW 2012-2013: Overview

I could have done this when we 1st saw the collection hit the runways back in the summer, but I never see the point when we forget after a while. Until the clothes turn up in shops and we're all thinking "what does one where?"

So as a refresher, and so that you know what you are most likely to see, or maybe even go look for if there is something that says "buy me".

Expect to see your wardrobe go black. AW (autumn winter, otherwise known as FW fall winter for the american counter part) 2012-2013 is personally never my season. During these times I tend to be in trainers and jeans. But this collection my dark rock side likes.

For most designers the best way to describe it is Twilight (yes vampire movie) hits the runway. Its dark, black, navy, burgundy, grey, with opulence. Remember Vampires are rich and love the luxury, well the old movies anyway. Think rock stars in fur and velvet mixed with leather. AW/FW brings confidence without the need for the bright colours.

Usual things to see in the colder months is embellishment, tailoring, a nod to military/Russian/Napoleon, velvet, and red. Well that's the norm, someone will be bound to do one of those for AW/FW.

Things that are for this year is accessories. Gold is big this season, in clothes or in jewellery, or metal like in Alexander McQueen, and silver broaches in Bottega Veneta.

I used to see shearing which is still visible this year but more so with fur. Dolce & Gabbana is still going with lace and shorts. Which I cant see many of us wearing in cold climates. Bottega Veneta brought sexiness through silhouette and less skin is more, most of their models being covered up with long gloves up to the elbow.

Some designers did keep up with the geek chic and tailoring, but here are the rest of the pics I pulled out of Style.com

Day Out: Photo booth festival

I stubbled upon this and I wont be able to go due to me working weekends, and its only for one day. So for those who can make it I hope you can come back and tell me about it.

The world 1st photo booth festival. There aren't so many of them around theses days and they are not as fun as they used to be. But there was a time when you would commemorate a day out with you and all your friends trying to cram into a booth with stupid faces and have your pictures taken.

In that memory I would have gone and done just that. On Saturday they will be having different types of booths taking different types of photos I guess.

Have fun and take some silly ones!

Heads Up: The Shard

If you didn't know already I have a fear of heights. Funny that, when I have gone up the Empire State, walked up the Eiffel Tower, rode round the London Eye, climbed The Domo Church roof top in Milan, and jumped out a of a plane in Tendon. But seriously, I am petrified and hate being able to see through my feet as you ascend. So I shouldn't be booking tickets to the latest London attraction, The Shard.

I came across The Shard, when I saw this picture on facebook.

It's the opening of the Shard 4 days ago. They opened with a spectacular laser show illuminating  the sky scraper and spotlighting other buildings in London.

The facts.

Designer: Renzo Piano
Height: 1,016 ft (310m)
Accolade: Tallest building in Western Europe (well until the one in Russia is finished next year)

The View.

I cant really say since tickets are now on sale but is not open to the public until Feb 2013. It boasts a 360ยบ view, at floors 68,69 and 72 almost twice the height of any viewing platform in London. The glass pyramid, as I see it, lets you see the eclectic view of London, a mixture of past and present, and the surrounding elements around and above you.

Tickets are sold at a steep price of adults £24.95 child £18.95.

For more info and ticket booking visit the official web site. www.theviewfromtheshard.com
