Well as much French as I can muster at 6 am. I decided to go for a day trip after all its between a 2.17 - 1.5 hr train ride, and why do a day trip in England when you can sample the sights of Paris for around £69 return avec la Eurostar.
With the Euro being strong and most clients being in Paris I realised I still haven't been up La Tour Eiffel. So why not take the opportunity to get out of town and check out les chic Parisians.
Dare I say it this is my 1st Eurostar adventure.. I feel like I been locked up in the old ages and must be the only one that's all "look I'm on the Eurostar! woohoo" after now many years of it being in operation. I'm loving watching my friend giggle to himself as he watches family guy on his bb, it's rather amusing, or I just like it when friends around me look as they are enjoying themselves.
Plan for the day.. hire bike.. eiffel tower.. wine and site see.
The Mission: La Tour Eiffel....
I have not ridden a bike in over 10 years, let alone cycled on the roads. My bum hurt form the hard seats and my legs hurt from lack of exercise. But it was defiantly a triumph, 2 hours later of searching and stopping to check the map, Les Arc De Triomphe.
Find bike parking bays and on foot to La Tour Eiffel. The cues was long for the lift, so on foot up the tower we go. Take in the views and a glass of wine and then down to the river for a boat ride to Notredame.
wow is that the time? bike stop just by the cathedral made it easy and off we went power biking it back to the station. Just enough time to pick up a baguette and water, and London bound.
Doesn't sound like much but cycling and finding our own way was most of the challenge. I don't think we actually had time to sit and eat. We were very much up and go... next?!... I did want to stop and take pics of the locals. Maybe next time. Enjoying the area as a local (more like a lost local) was better then being a tourist, but saying that we had to do it, and I'm already booking my next Paris day trip. Next trip Lourve. Hopefully we can take some down time and actually eat!
