Wireless Festival July 2013

My 1st festival and it was baking! I thought to go prepared... no need for an umbrella or a rain poncho. But we did pre order a locker in case we needed to leave things like a jacket for the evening.

Wet wipes check, tissues check, cheap (don't want to break or loose expensive) sunglasses check, bottle of water check, hygiene gel check, sunblock already on check!

I didn't end up wearing boots on the day as it was so hot. I wore converse. Was going for a dixi chick look. The hoodie was the warmest  I have incase it chilled in the evening... which it didn't.

Tip...Rookie mistake to wear sandals.. they are

a. not an all day walking comfortable item
b. can break when your drunk, I've seen girls looking really bad.
c. dust, dirt and dodgy tan lines!

Best mate to dace with in tow and here we go.....

The Legends of the Summer JT and JayZ did not disappoint as we danced for hours to some new and old jams. Then the guest star Riri arrived and everyone was running to take pictures.

I wanted to take more pictures of festival fashion but I was disappointed. Everyone in the same Aztec dress, bikini tops and crack showing denim shorts. Maybe the heat got to them but it was just vests folded to their bras and men all top less and shorts.

I did however manage to find one girl on the left.... looking hot cool and fierce...

More luck next year.....

Demobaza

Bulgarian designers Demo and Tono created Demoboza in 2008 selling their unique creations on its on line store, which later turned into limited editions. Soon after in 2010 saw the opening of its showroom/store in Sofia.
"The combination between Bulgarian post-socialist spirit and the extraordinary futuristic dreams, together with intentional unwariness to details, are the basis of Demobaza’s philosophy, which has generated the concept of deconstructive uniform."

"About the style:

Minimal and futuristic look expressed by deconstructive sporty shapes.
Uniform built of trashy and bad made looking elements.
"

www.demobaza.com

Maybe I have been watching too much manga anime. Ever wanted to have that futuristic desert look? I stumbled across them after a chat with a client and have used some of their images for look collages for a prospective styling gig.

As much as the looks are All Saints gone extreme, and the designers have styled looks with other brand collaborations such as G-Star and Diesel. I can see male pop stars dancing around in Demoboza jackets or pants, and si-fi moves dressed in stylish nomad.

Look Sharp: Karen K

"Not On Our Watch Project is a non governmental, international relief and humanitarian aid organisation based in the United States" founded by George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Jerry Weintraub and David Pressman. Last Saturday a fundraiser was held in its name where I attended its after party.

Sushi, Models, Vodka and meeting some great people in aid of helping a good cause was worth it.

Someone who made a big impact on guests was Karen K.

Other than being a beautiful model Karen is also a passionate woman about her brand and its ethos. Karen K shoes is about comfort and having shoes that you can literally run in. Not just a gem for your mantel/shelf of "must have" shoes because it hurts too much to walk or stand in . As she talked to me about equilibrium, steel and memory foam, was enough to make this shoe lover drool, google and, check out her site. Name drop that Nicole Scherzinger was seen wearing them for a performance on X-Factor and tweeted after how she found them so comfortable and loved them. Angel wing tattooed, brand, logo, Karen only launched her brand in 2010 and 3 years later is making waves for a promising future.

Check out her bespoke shoes...

I still giggle how her website calls them Keels and Koots. Its just cute.

Day Out: Chimes for Change

This week has been crazy. With the sun out I had been out with friends and last weekend I had to help open a new store in Bicester Village, getting me home late. So a few nights to let my hair down was required.

This month kicked off with the Chimes for Change concert that was also aired on BBC and was sponsored by Gucci. A charity event to help girls and women everywhere, for better health, education and justice.

It had an amazing line up of singers and guests star appearances that we were just going on like school kids saying Oh My God or screaming! Obviously they were all gucci clad. Was like watching a Gucci concert.

That aside, it is a cause and something that people should support and I am happy to know that the money I paid for the ticket is going to just that.

Please support Chimes for Change. These artist are 1 person that made a difference in our lives imagine how you too can also make a difference in others.

Day Out: Hermes Festival Des Metiers

Les Festival de Metiers avec Les Saachi Gallery... that's about as far as my french goes, in translation the festival of craft at the Saachi gallery. I over heard the guy say that Hermes wanted to remind people that their products are hand made, that there are people that dedicate their lives to the craft of hand making the items that we now so desire.

If your a lover of designer labels this is a good place to understand where the money you so eagerly parted with for that one scarf or hand bag is going too. The process that is undertaken and it optimal environment. As the man was screen printing the scarf the translator said, as much as we love the Saachi this is not the best condition for printing the scarf like in their factory, the humidity, dust, lights, all affect the material and the printing process.

You get to talk, ask questions, and even look through the binoculars to see diamonds being placed into its setting. I did have a small chat about how the practise of craft has now changed, from what I would have originally imagined a factory of older men, has now changed with a new generation to keep the art alive and that its new hands are of women. The lady said that with new people comes new atmosphere and the age range of new staff is now 20-30.

If I had more time I would go every day to see the progress of the bag at its stages as they made them there at the Saatchi. Hoping to see it finished.

Ends: Monday 27th May 2013
Opening Hours: 10:00 - 18:00
Location: Saatchi Gallery
Nearest station: Sloane Square
